Why driveways go first
The hardest-working
slab you own.
A west-facing driveway in Washington County swings through more than a hundred degrees between a January night and a July afternoon, and concrete moves with every degree of it. That movement opens hairline cracks; the slab is porous, so water follows the cracks down and carries dissolved salt with it — off the road, out of the softener discharge, up from the soil itself. When that water freezes, or the salt crystallises as it dries, the surface gets pushed apart from the inside. Scaling, spalling and the white bloom of efflorescence are all the same story.
Sealing does not stop the movement — nothing does. It keeps the pore network from staying saturated, which starves freeze–thaw and salt crystallisation of the one thing they both need.
Cracks and failed joints get handled first. Sealer over a broken surface is money down the drain, so filling, patching and expansion joint work come before anything else goes down.

It goes down early in the morning, before the slab has taken on the day's heat. On a hot surface it flash-dries and leaves whiting and streaks — which in southern Utah is not a small detail, it is most of the job. If you want the colour deepened instead of left alone, that is the wet-look conversation.

How long am I without the driveway?
Twenty-four hours after the sealer goes down. Plan for one day of street parking and you will not be caught out — we would rather tell you up front than have you find out on the way to work.
Will it change how the driveway looks?
Not with the clear penetrating sealer — it dries fully transparent. Wet-look and decorative finishes deliberately deepen the colour, and that is a choice, not a side effect. We show you the difference on your own concrete before anything is committed to.
My driveway is brand new. Can it be sealed now?
Not immediately — fresh concrete has to cure and give up its moisture first, and sealing over that is how finishes fail early. If you are mid build, talk to us at the pour and we will schedule it properly.
How often does it need doing again?
It depends on the product and the exposure — a shaded slab and a west-facing one do not wear at anything like the same rate. Our maintenance program runs on a two-year cycle: we come back, clean it, and put a fresh coat down before the surface ever gets far enough gone to need restoring.
